Anecdote
Bonjour,
I was RO on Halia from October 70 to April 71 for the Pacific Glory salvage and the stint in Bonny when we relieved the Haustellum for three months. We had five wives on board.
Captain P A Koops was Master 1940-1. While the vessel was in Liverpool, February 1941, he married my mother.

Hello. I'm looking to find any information on my great uncle Christopher T Underwood who was a radio officer on the tanker Navicella. He unfortunately died why sailing between Willemstad (Curaçao) and Durban (South Africa) during 1959. If anyone has any information they could share with me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Joe
Flew out to Singapore and joined the Halia as a Junior Ordinary seaman on the 16th September 1968 to 12th March 1969 in Singapore did Vietnam run going to Qui Nhon & Cam Ranh Bay + Saigon where we were hit by a missile which made a right mess of one of the crew's cabin and I believe his prized National Panasonic Radio. Also did Da Nang amongst other places. Rest of the trip was spent going back and forth from Singapore to various far east places such as Hong Kong - Solomon Islands - Bombay Madras Calcutta - Persian gulf. Then flew home with KLM - great trip. Double money in Vietnam waters also helped.
I served as Eng App and junior engineer on Hellisoma from July 1966 to July 1967. If my memory serves me well it was a great ship and I enjoyed my time on her. The old man for a time was Willy Cairns who was by all account a bit of a bastard but when I did my bridge time I got on fine with him. I think Keith Fenwick was first mate during that time.
I sailed on Hanetia in 1969 as Junior Engineer, we had a major engine room incident sailing from Singapore to India when we lost all Lube oil to main turbines due to a blackout,. Is there any one on this site that can remember this.
