Sailed to Bonny West Africa on her last trip before sale in 1976 to Goulandris Oil. Slow steaming as the price of oil was increasing as we made our way to Holland. Almost collided with a ferry on its way out of Rotterdam when we arrived the Pilot turned white but the ferry missed, Pilot really unhappy with Harbour Control. QM at the time and I along with everyone on the bridge had also broken into a sweat! Outstanding food, great crew one of the best I sailed with.

Ijoined the MEGARA or BIG MEG as we used to call her,in the builders yard of MITSUBISHIin japan and worked by her for about ten days before the rest of the crew joined us,a great time, then we sailed for the gulf and got as far as singapore, when the stern gland went bust.Again a great time, shore leave every night for a couple of weeks until they fixed it.The only sad point about that trip was that a young E.D.H fell down one of the tanks and was killed.Love to hear from anybody that was aboard at the same time as me.
