My Dad Ken Kennedy joined San Roberto in Grangemoutn on 4th Sept 1943, and signed off on 3rd Jan 1944. I have found in his papers the Christmas Lunch menu for 26th Dec 1943. Served up was; Hors d'oeuvres, Soups (choice of Tomato Purce (sic), Cream of Celery). Followed by boiled Cod Fillet and white sauce, creamed potatoes, Roast Turkey, York Ham, sausage stuffing, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding, garden peas, brussels sprouts, baked and boiled potatoes, Cold Lunch Tongue and Russian Salad. Plum pudding and rum sauce, mince pies, apples, biscuits, cheese, coffee, beer, wine, spirits. Menu signed by G.Turner, Chief Steward. Wasn't there a war on at the time?!!
