He would like to known if any of his old pals are still out there. He has sent me the following letter with the names of his pals : Joined Lepton in Belfast dry dock, the ship was getting the final checks before Sea trials. Chief Eng Stan Kitchen English 2nd Eng L.G. Winters English 3rd Eng George Allan Irish 4th Eng Neil McKenna Scottish Ship sailed East of Suez during my service which lasted approx sixteen months, crew changed from white to Chinese after one year. Whilst in Sumatra we had a fatal accident at the Shell installation Pladjoe on the Palembang River, we were filling up with Petroleum, two of the tanks were situated under the Officers accommodation in the centre castle, the Pump man, First Officer and the Cadet were overcome by gas and died, they were buried the same day further up the River at a Dutch Cemetery. The ship eventually sailed to Malta where it was time to fly home and take some leave. The Lepton?s first annual dry dock was in Brisbane Australia. I also sailed on the MV Lyria flying out from London to Bombay to join as 3rd Eng. The 4th Eng Ron Lovesey from Newport came out with me. We were very good friends. I am Neil McKenna?s son John, and you can contact me by email at easthamcourt101@hotmail.com My dad is now over 80 and still going strong, if you have any info on the Lepton he would love to know. Thanks and good luck, John.
